How much do custom embroidered jackets cost?
A left-chest embroidered Port Authority J317 soft shell costs $34.77 all-in at 24 pieces and $32.77 at 144, plus $18.99 one-time digitizing. Here is where every dollar goes, from Battle Born Clothing's actual price matrix.
The three parts of the price
Every custom jacket price is blank plus decoration plus one-time fees. The blank is the jacket itself. Decoration is the embroidery, priced per piece by quantity. One-time fees are digitizing (turning your logo into a stitch file) and anything optional like names or packaging. Freight is billed at cost.
The blank
We price blanks at supplier cost × 2 when the cost is under $10, and cost + 35% at $10 and up. A Port Authority J317 soft shell is $28.77 on that rule. A Port Authority F218 fleece is $21.57. Premium brands (Carhartt, Nike, OGIO, Eddie Bauer, The North Face) and hi-vis are quoted per job because their pricing moves and some brands set minimum advertised prices.
The embroidery
| Quantity | Embroidery per piece |
|---|---|
| 12-47 | $6.00 |
| 48-71 | $5.50 |
| 72-95 | $4.50 |
| 96-143 | $4.00 |
| 144+ | $4.00 |
The rate drops at 48, 96 and 144 pieces. Every embroidery price covers one design up to 6,000 stitches. Above that, each additional 1,000 stitches adds $1.50 (12-23 pcs), $1.00 (24-71), $0.60 (72-95) or $0.50 (96+) per piece, rounded up to the next 1,000; we tell you the exact count with the proof.
One-time fees
- Digitizing: $18.99 per design, once. Reorders use the same file.
- Second location (sleeve, back, names): quoted per design.
- 2XL and up: supplier size upcharge of roughly $1 to $7 per piece, shown on the quote.

What moves the price up
- A premium brand blank. Carhartt, OGIO, Eddie Bauer and The North Face cost more than Port Authority and are quoted per job.
- A back design. Large embroidery is priced by stitch count and can cost more than the chest logo and blank combined on a filled design.
- Names. Each name is its own small embroidery run; quoted per job.
- Size spread. A crew with many 2XL and 3XL pieces carries the supplier upcharge on those pieces.
- Rush. Standard is 28 days from proof approval; anything faster is quoted per job.
What moves the price down
- Hitting the next tier. 44 jackets cost $6.00 each to embroider; 48 cost $5.50. The four extra jackets often pay for themselves.
- Same logo on mixed styles. We count the embroidery tier across every piece with the same design, so 30 jackets plus 30 vests is a 60-piece tier.
- Reordering. No new digitizing fee.
- Supplying your own jackets. You pay $2 per item handling plus embroidery; see the pricing page.
Questions
Is there a minimum order?
No hard minimum. The 12-23 tier is the top of the matrix, and smaller orders are possible; digitizing makes very small runs expensive per piece.
Does the price include shipping?
No. Freight is billed at cost from Yerington, Nevada.
Why are Carhartt and OGIO quoted per job?
Those brands set minimum advertised pricing and their costs move. We are an authorized decorator for them and quote from live cost with the brand's rules respected.
